You can efficiently manage your fault code alerts and promptly recognize crucial issues with real-time notifications through Fault Code alert notifications. In addition to alert notifications for warning lamp fault codes, you can create Fault Code alerts, also known as Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) alerts, for publicly available DTCs on your trailer or vehicle. In vehicles, the Fault Code alert is sent when a vehicle fault code is detected through the OBD-II using a J1939 Vehicle Gateway (VG) cable. In trailers, the Fault Code alert is sent when a trailer ABS fault code is detected through a trailer connector cable (CBL-AG-BABS or CBL-AG-BPLC).
See Alert Configuration for more information on how to enable Alert Triggers. Within the Fault Code alert configuration, you can apply specific Conditions to enable this functionality. You can choose to receive alert notifications for Warning Lamp Alerts, DTC Alerts, or an ABS Fault Lamp Alert.
After you select one or more specific conditions to trigger your alert, you can also choose to receive notifications for illuminated check engine lamps. To avoid receiving a false alert from a light flicker, Samsara recommends you to apply a longer Duration for engine lamp alerts.
Note
-
Amber Warning Lamp and Protection Lamp illuminations are common and you may receive more alerts that meet these conditions than you initially expect.
-
Lamp alerts do not contain a specific fault code.
To receive alerts for recognized J1939 and OBD-II DTCs, choose the DTC from the Condition drop-down menu.
The ABS fault lamp alert triggers for AG52 and AG53 dry-van trailer installations using a CBL-AG-BABS or a CBL-AG-BPLC cable type. To receive alerts for ABS fault codes, perform the installation with the CBL-AG-BPLC cable. For more information on how the ABS fault lamp displays on the dashboard, see Trailer ABS Visibility and Alerts.
