Samsara provides different types of alerts that you can use to monitor important events for your organization. For each use case, there are one or more types of alerts that you can customize. The configuration steps for each alert differ by the alert type and version. In the tables below, v 1.0 denotes legacy alerts and v 2.0 denotes alerts introduced in October 2022 or a later release.
After you configure an alert, you can view incidents from Alerts ( ) > Alerts Incidents. The time zone of the alert on the dashboard displays the time based on the user's desktop settings, however the alert trigger email notification is based on your organization's region.

NoteYou can create up to 10 alerts that use bulk geofence targeting. Bulk geofence targeting enables you to send alerts to multiple addresses at a time. This includes targeting all addresses, multiple addresses by tag, or multiple addresses by type (for example normal or risk zone). To set a Geofence alert, specify the geofence activity for which you want to raise an alert, the geofence area or address, and the alert source (all assets, specific assets, or specific tags). Avoid alert configurations which include a geofence that is entirely inside another geofence. This will cause inconsistencies with alerting inside or outside those geofences. Alert if battery level falls below a specified voltage across your powered equipment. Efficiently investigate assets and leverage data to better plan maintenance/parts purchasing/new asset procurement. To set an Equipment Battery Voltage alert, set the voltage threshold, the alert source (all assets, specific assets, or specific tags), optional duration for which the voltage must remain below the threshold, and an optional alert schedule. |
Fuel Level v 2.0 |
Alert when the fuel level falls below or exceeds a specified threshold. To set a Fuel Level alert, specify the condition, duration for which the level holds at the condition, and the alert source (all assets, specific assets, or specific tags). |
Scheduled Maintenance v 2.0 |
Alert when scheduled maintenance is performed. For example, if you have scheduled maintenance to check the odometer, you can alert with the activity is logged. Alerts with multiple preventative maintenance conditions on schedules are currently not supported. To set a Scheduled Maintenance alert, select the activity and an optional alert schedule. |
State of Charge v 2.0 |
Alert when an electric vehicle's battery charge level increases or decreases by a specified value. Vehicle Fuel Level Dramatic Decrease v 1.0 |
Alert if fuel level decreases by a specified percentage within a specified number of minutes. Dramatic decreases of fuel level in a short period of time can indicate recent suspicious activity (potentially fuel siphoning) or maintenance issues (leaking fuel tank). To set a Vehicle Fuel Level Dramatic Decrease alert, set the percentage and time period for the change (at least 20% is recommended in a short time frame such as 6 minutes).
