CBL-AG-BPLC or CBL-AG-BABS with AG52 or AG53
When you install an Asset Gateway (AG) on a trailer for ABS integration, the Samsara cable connects the device to the trailer’s 5-pin ABS Weather-Pack connector and 7-way cable. This setup allows the AG to transmit ABS lamp activity to the Samsara dashboard while the trailer is powered. AGs can be integrated with various types of trailers, including dry vans, reefers, tankers, and chassis.
Note
To confirm compatibility for your ABS integration, see Installation Guides by Asset Type.
To install the Asset Gateway (AG) for ABS integration on a trailer, use the following workflow:
-
Confirm that the trailer's ABS is functioning correctly. When the trailer starts, the ABS light should illuminate for 3 to 5 seconds and then turn off. If it behaves differently, the ABS system may have a fault and should be serviced before proceeding.
Caution
Before beginning work on the trailer, ensure it is taken out of service and secured with wheel chocks and a glad hand lock.
-
Activate the device in the Samsara dashboard if you have not already done so.
Log in to the Samsara dashboard at the regional Samsara cloud URL assigned to your organization (such as cloud.samsara.com, cloud.ca.samsara.com, or cloud.eu.samsara.com), or go to cloud.samsara.com/activate. You can also follow the link in your
Order Shippedemail. -
Turn off the power to the trailer.
-
Locate and disconnect the 5-pin ABS Weather-Pack (TTMA) connector on your trailer from the 7-way cable (typically located near the rear axle). To locate the connector, trace the wire harness from the ABS unit.
-
Connect the male end of the Samsara cable to the 7-way connector and the female end of the Samsara cable to the ABS 5-pin connector. Ensure the connection is latched and secure.
-
Select the desired mounting location.
-
To mount your AG, follow the corresponding installation instructions for the AG mounting hole type:
-
To secure the AG, first drill pilot holes using an 11/16-inch drill bit. Then, attach the AG using the two provided #8 self-drilling screws.
Caution
To prevent damage to the mounting tabs, tighten screws to a maximum torque of 1.4 Nm (12.4 lbf-in). If using your own screws, ensure they are not larger than the size specified below.
-
Plug the cable into the AG and twist to lock.
-
Attach the mounting bracket to the mounting surface using one of the following methods:
Caution
To prevent damage to the mounting tabs, tighten screws to a maximum torque of 1.4 Nm (12.4 lbf-in). If using your own screws, ensure they are not larger than the size specified below.
-
Self-drilling screws: Use the provided #8 self-drilling screws.
-
Machine screws: Drill through-holes for the mounting bracket and secure it using the provided 6-32 machine screws, washers, and lock nuts.
-
-
Securely mount the AG to the bracket using the two provided machine screws.
Caution
To prevent damage to the mounting tabs, tighten screws to a maximum torque of 1.4 Nm (12.4 lbf-in). If using your own screws, ensure they are not larger than the size specified below.
-
Plug the cable into the AG and twist to lock.
-
-
Secure the wire harness every 30 to 50 cm using cable ties. Ensure cables are free from sharp edges, bending load, or tension.
-
Turn on power to the trailer.
-
Verify that the trailer's ABS light comes on for 3 to 5 seconds during startup before it powers off.
-
Reference AG53 LED Statuses and Actions and perform the action that corresponds to the observed LED behavior.
Note
The LED illuminates for up to 30 minutes after you turn on the power to the trailer. If you do not observe the LED, disconnect and reconnect the power cable to reset the LED.
-
Confirm successful connection in your Samsara Dashboard.
The Samsara dashboard can take up to two minutes to update after you turn on the supply power.
-
Configure the Asset Gateway Power Loss Settings.
-
For more information about how ABS lamp faults display in the Samsara dashboard, see Trailer ABS Visibility and Alerts or to configure an alert for ABS lamp codes, see Fault Code Alerts.
-
Manage the trailer from the Samsara dashboard.
