Use this workflow to install the ATIS integration cable (either the ACC-AG-BATIS-MER Meritor cable or the ACC-AG-BATIS-HEN Hendrickson cable) on a trailer equipped with an Asset Gateway (AG52 or AG53).
The following tables display the items that are included with each cable. Refer to the items for your cable type.

-
If you have not already done so, install your AG for ABS tracking using the CBL-AG-BPLC cable.
-
Locate the ATIS control unit on the trailer.
Typically the ATIS control unit is located on the bogie, either in front of or behind the axles.
-
Determine the type of installation by tracing the the wiring harness exiting the ATIS control unit:
-
If there is a 3-pin Weather-Pack connector installed on the wiring harness, perform a 3-Pin Connector Installation.
-
If there is no connector and the ATIS is a Meritor or PSI system, open the ATIS unit. Perform the workflow for your configuration:
-
If there are quick disconnect terminals, perform a Direct Installation With Disconnect Terminals.
-
If there are no quick disconnect terminals, perform a Direct Installation Without Disconnect Terminals
-
-
-
Unplug the 3-pin connector. If needed, remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) lock or zip-tie to unplug the connector.
-
Connect the ACC-AG-BATIS-HEN cable: Plug the male end of the cable into the ATIS connector. Plug the female end of the ACC-AG-BATIS-HEN cable to the ATIS lamp connector.
-
Cut the end cap off of the input leg of the AG cable.
-
Route the remaining loose wire of the ACC-AG-BATIS-HEN cable towards the installed AG, avoiding sharp corners or moving parts that could damage the cable.
-
Carefully strip 1in (2.5 cm) of the AG cable jacket, taking care to avoid damaging the wires. Pull away and remove any protective material from the wires inside.
-
Strip back 5/16 in (8 mm) of the green/white wire and slide the small heat-shrink tube over the wire for later use.
-
Using the butt splice, connect the black ATIS cable wire to the green/white AG cable input wire.
-
Position the heat-shrink tube over the connection and use a heat gun or torch to carefully shrink the heat-shrink tube until the adhesive starts to flow out of the shrink tube.
-
Carefully bundle any excess input wire using cable ties every 12-18 in (30-50 cm). If securing to air hoses or other sensitive components, take care not to over-tighten the cable ties.
-
Configure Auxiliary Input 1 on the AG for the ATIS Lamp.
-
Validate that the ATIS lamp functions properly, following the manufacturer's instructions to test the ATIS lamp.
-
To monitor ATIS lamp activations, see Trailer ATIS Visibility and Alerts.
-
Disconnect both quick disconnect terminal wires from the ATIS flow sensing switch.
-
Route the black wire into the ATIS unit using one of the following methods:
-
(Preferred) New cable gland: Drill a 12.5 mm (½") hole for the cable gland that comes pre-installed on the wire. Insert the wire through the hole and secure the gland:
-
Tighten the gland attachment to the box to 22.1 in-lb (2.5 N·m) of torque.
-
Tighten the dome sealing nut to 14.4 in-lb (1.6 N·m) of torque.
-
-
Existing cable gland: If the existing cable gland is large enough, route the black wire into the ATIS box through the existing cable gland.
-
Duckbill vent: Route the wire through the duckbill vent on the bottom of the ATIS box, squeezing the duckbill to pass the wire through.
-
-
Connect the ATIS lamp and ACC-AG-BATIS-MER cable to the terminal splitter onto the flow sensing switch:
Install the terminal splitter onto the flow sensing switch.
-
Route the remaining loose wire of the ACC-AG-BATIS-MER cable towards the installed AG, avoiding sharp corners or moving parts that could damage the cable.
-
Carefully strip 1in (2.5 cm) of the AG cable jacket, taking care to avoid damaging the wires.
Note
ATIS lamp wire colors can vary. In most cases, the lamp harness includes a white wire that is always hot (constantly powered) and a black wire that supplies switched power to the lamp. To ensure proper installation, connect the ATIS cable to the black lamp power wire—not the always-hot white wire. Use a multimeter or test light to confirm wire function before proceeding with the installation.
-
On the lamp harness, choose a convenient location to cut the connector and strip back 1 in (2.5 cm) of the cable jacket to expose the conductors.
Note
Ensure that you cut the ATIS lamp harness and not the ABS harness.
-
Strip back 5/16 in (8 mm) of the insulation on each conductor.
-
Slide the large heat-shrink tubing over one side of the cable for later use.
-
Using the 14-16 AWG (medium) heat-shrink insulated butt splice, reconnect the 12V power lead (typically white).
-
Twist together the black input wire from the ACC-AG-BATIS-MER cable with the black wire in the lamp wiring harness and insert these wires into one side of the 14-16 AWG heat-shrink insulated butt splice. Crimp wires to secure them to the butt splice.
-
Insert the remaining black wire from the lamp wiring harness into the other side of the butt splice. Crimp the connection to secure it to the butt splice.
-
Use a heat gun or torch to shrink the two butt splices.
-
When the butt splices have cooled, slide the large heat-shrink tube over the connection and use a heat gun or torch to shrink the tube.
-
Route the remaining loose wire of the ACC-AG-BATIS-MER cable towards the installed AG, avoiding sharp corners or moving parts that could damage the cable.
-
Carefully strip 1in (2.5 cm) of the AG cable jacket, taking care to avoid damaging the wires.

Validate that the ATIS lamp functions properly, following the manufacturer's instructions to test the ATIS lamp.
