Use this guide when you can see the Samsara AI Multicam Hub and its LED.
For health status and definitions from the Samsara dashboard (Healthy, Needs Attention, Data Pending), see External Camera Device Health: Definitions and Troubleshooting (or the Camera Health report in your organization's help center). That report is based on connectivity and recording uptime over recent trip activity. This topic covers troubleshooting steps you can take at the device based on the LED you observe.
Supported devices: Samsara AI Multicam Hub (AIM4). AHD1 may have different LED behavior; use dashboard health status and your product documentation for AHD1.
Check the AI Multicam Hub LED, then find the matching row in the table below. Perform the recommended action for that state.

Device is powered and recording. Connection to the Vehicle Gateway (VG) is good. |
No action required. If the External Camera Device Health report still shows Needs Attention, check the health reason (e.g., low uptime, low connectivity, obstruction) and follow the report's recommended action. |

The hub may have no power, or it may not be connected to a VG. The AI Multicam Hub does not receive power from the VG, but it can receive a wake signal when the vehicle ignition is on. |

Note
Ongoing failure after you reseat connections, confirm VG power, and try another USB port may indicate a bad VG port or a faulty USB path on the AIM4, which is often resolved by replacing the affected hardware.
LED behavior and colors can vary by hardware revision. If your LED does not match the table or the issue continues after you follow the steps, see Report an Issue or contact Support with the exact LED pattern (solid or blinking, color) and the health status shown in the External Camera Device Health report.
When the report shows Needs Attention with a reason (for example, low uptime, low connectivity, media input not connected, or outward camera obstruction), use both:
-
Check the AI Multicam Hub LED and follow the action for that state above.
-
Perform the report's recommended action. For example, ensure the camera is properly connected and installed, remove obstructions from the outward-facing camera, or verify media inputs on the AI Multicam Hub.
After you take action, allow time for new trip activity so the report can recalculate health. If the status does not improve, contact Support and provide the health reason and the LED state you observed.
