The Device Health Report provides a centralized view of device status across your fleet, including real-time statuses, recommended actions, and device details. It helps you quickly identify issues, take proactive steps, and reduce downtime.
From the Device Health Report, you can take the following actions to stay on top of fleet performance:
-
Review current status by filtering and sorting devices, then export data to analyze health trends.
-
Resolve issues by checking device statuses and following the troubleshooting steps for that device type.
-
Take proactive action by setting Health Status alerts or scheduling reports.
Permissions: To view device health, you must be a Full Admin or have a custom role with the required permissions. If you are assigned a custom role, your access is limited to the device types covered by your permissions, and any devices outside that scope are filtered out of the report. The following are the required custom role permissions for each device type:
-
Gateways (Vehicle and Asset): Essentials > View access for Gateway Health
-
OEM Integrations: Essentials > View access for OEM health issues and reporting
-
Cameras and Camera Connectors: Safety > View access for Camera Health
From any Device Health report, open the more actions ( ••• ) menu to perform the following tasks:
-
Export: Download the report for offline analysis or recordkeeping.
-
Schedule Emailed Report: Set up recurring email delivery to keep stakeholders informed.
-
Print: Generate a printer-friendly view of the current report.
-
Create Custom Report: Build a report with selected fields and filters that you can save or schedule.
The Device Health Report updates every 15 minutes. Devices are included when they are installed, meaning they have successfully connected to the Samsara platform, and their associated vehicle or asset has not been deleted from your fleet.
-
Vehicle Gateways (VGs): Included when installed in a vehicle.
-
Asset Gateways (AGs): Included when installed.
-
Cameras (CMs): Included when installed; must be AI-enabled (dual- or front-facing) and connected to a VG.

Ignition OnorReverse Only) and requires at least 50 hours of drive time for assessment. -

OEM Integrations: Included when active after the OEM account is connected; health reflects data received in the past 24 hours.
