Asset Gateway (AG) - Trailer 7-Way Wiring (with 4-Pin) - CBL-AG-ATPM

Requires one of the following licenses:

CBL-AG-ATPM with AG26, AG46P, or AG53

Install the Asset Gateway (AG) on a trailer and connect it to the trailer’s 7-way power system using the CBL-AG-ATPM cable. This configuration draws power from the towing vehicle when connected, enabling real-time tracking while conserving battery when disconnected.

Tip

Review the Installation Guides by Asset Type for Powered Asset Gateways (AGs) to ensure you obtain the appropriate cable for your configuration.

Cable ties

  1. Activate the device in the Samsara dashboard if you have not already done so.

    Log in to the Samsara dashboard at the regional Samsara cloud URL assigned to your organization (such as cloud.samsara.com, cloud.ca.samsara.com, or cloud.eu.samsara.com), or go to cloud.samsara.com/activate. You can also follow the link in your Order Shipped email.

  2. Select the desired mounting location and clean thoroughly.

    Tip

    Consider the following best practices when selecting a mounting location for the AG:

    • Ensure that the device and cables are not at risk of being damaged by moving parts. If possible, test the device in the intended mounting location before final installation.

    • Verify that the cable has adequate clearance to reach both the AG and the electrical connection.

    • For the most reliable connectivity and performance:

      • Mount the AG as close to the trailer edge as possible.

      • Ensure that at least one side of the AG is unobstructed—facing the sky or ground, for example.

      • Position the AG vertically. Avoid mounting it with the back facing directly upward or downward, such as lying flat on its back or front.

    • Avoid installing the device within metallic structures, such as inside a metal trailer. This may interfere with cellular and GPS connectivity.

  3. Attach mounting plate with adhesive strips. (Optional) Secure with 4 self-tapping screws.

  4. Mount the asset gateway onto a mounting plate with 4 flat-end screws.

  5. Plug the 7-way cable into the AG and twist to secure.

  6. Run the length of the cable to the 7-way connector and use the zip ties to fasten the cable to the trailer.

  7. Connect the other end of the cable to the 7-way connector:

    1. Connect the White wire (ground) to negative.

    2. Connect the Brown wire (head/tail lights) to 12-30 VDC power.

    3. Connect the Blue wire (ABS/Constant Power) to 12-30 VDC power.

  8. Cap any unused wires.

  9. The LED light on the AG illuminates for 30 seconds if the connection is successful.

    Note

    If you observe a cable error when you install the AG with the installer app, disconnect and reconnect the cable to the AG. Ensure the cable is correctly aligned with the 7-way connector and securely locked onto the asset gateway.

  10. (AG26/AG53) For PressurePro integration, connect the 4-pin connector on the 7-way cable to the mating 4-pin connector on the PressurePro Gateway.

  11. Manage the trailer from the Samsara dashboard.
