For fleets using driver ID cards, you can prevent missed sign-ins by enabling in-cab audio reminders through the dash cam. Enabling reminders improves trip-assignment accuracy and safety data, and reduces the need for manual driver assignment.
After the Vehicle Gateway (VG) and dash cam power on, the driver hears a spoken alert to sign in every minute. Alerts stop when the driver uses the ID card to sign in, when the VG detects vehicle motion, or when the dash cam reaches the maximum number of reminders, determined by your audio reminder settings.
You can configure this behavior fleet-wide or for specific vehicles. Per-vehicle controls are in In-Cab Alert settings when you configure Safety Settings for Individual Vehicles.
To configure ID card reminders for your entire fleet:
-
First Enable ID cards for your fleet and ensure your drivers have ID cards before changing reminder settings.
-
Select the Settings icon (
) at the bottom of your Fleet menu to view dashboard settings.
-
Select Driver Assignment.
-
Enable Sign-In Audio Reminders.
-
Set the condition for when Reminders end if a driver does not sign in.
-
Select When a trip starts to suppress reminders while the vehicle is in motion.
-
Select After X reminders following the start of a trip to continue reminders once the vehicle is in motion.
Warning
When enabled, alerts continue until a driver has signed in. Carefully consider whether this behavior is desired before enabling this option.
