When drivers submit Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs) using the Samsara Driver App, you can view the submitted reports directly in the Samsara dashboard. You can also add a vehicle or trailer DVIR in the Samsara dashboard to manage the DVIRs across the vehicles in your fleet.

To add a vehicle or trailer DVIR:

From the Samsara dashboard, select Maintenance (
) then select DVIR. -
Select DVIRs.

Select + Add Vehicle DVIR or + Add Trailer DVIR.

Enter the Vehicle Name.

(Optional) Provide the Trailer Name, Address, License Plate, Odometer, and Mechanic Notes.
Mechanics can use Mechanic Notes to include details on a specific defect or list what they did to fix a defect.

Within Safety, select the vehicle or trailer DVIR results (safe or unsafe to drive).

Select Save.
Note
By default, Samsara retains your DVIR data for as long as you are a customer. You can configure the following Customizable Data Retention Settings (Settings > Data Retention) for DVIRs:

Keep DVIR data for at least as long as I'm a customer (default)

Delete DVIR data prior to 3 months (92 days) from today

Delete DVIR data prior to 6 months (184 days) from today
