The Fleet Overview Map () gives you real-time visibility into your entire fleet, displaying the live locations of your Samsara gateways, vehicles, and assets on an interactive map.
From this view, you can track vehicle movements, monitor route progress, view asset details, and take location-based actions like vehicle dispatch. You can also customize the map for deeper operational insights on traffic, weather, and other conditions impacting your fleet.
You can interact with the map in these ways:
The search bar on the left side of the Fleet Overview Map () helps you find vehicles, assets, gateways, and locations. You can also filter by Tags, Attributes, and other characteristics.
When you search or apply filters, both the map and asset list automatically update based on your selections. To keep the view simple and focus on the assets that matter most, you can search and filter in the following ways:
-
Search assets: Displays only assets that meet your search. You can search by asset name, asset location, driver name, VIN, or gateway serial.
Note
By default, search results include partial matches. To limit your search to exact matches, use quotation marks around your search term. For example, "North Oaks" will limit results to exact matches, but North Oaks will return more results, including partial matches.
-
Filter by Tags: Displays only assets that have been assigned specific tags, such as for teams, job types, or other unique attributes.
-
Filter by Attributes: Displays only assets that have been assigned specific attributes, such as for License Type, HOS Status, or Vehicle Type.
-
Filter by More: Displays assets based on Asset Type, Asset Status, or Asset Name.
By default, the asset list on the left side of Fleet Overview Map () is sorted by which assets are In Motion. To change the list order, click Sort.
Available sort options include:
-
In Motion (default): Sorts the list based on vehicles that are currently in motion or were recently moving
-
A➞Z: Sorts based on name in ascending order
-
Z➞A: Sorts based on name in descending order
-
In Risk Zone: Sorts the list based on assets that are currently in Risk Zones. To designate a geographic area as a Risk Zone, you can add or edit an address.
You can customize the asset list on the left side of the Fleet Overview Map () to see more information in context, such as fuel levels, Hours of Service, and device issues needing attention.
