    How can I remove HOS from a vehicle, so the vehicle can be deleted?  For example, we sold the vehicle, and it is no longer in our fleet.

    Hi Benjamin- Thanks for reaching out. For compliance reasons, a motor carrier must retain ELD RODS data and supporting documents for six months. For more information, please see the FMCSA website. Thank you!

    We don't follow HOS and have it disabled and I still cannot delete a vehicle.

    So is it correct that we can delete the HOS data after 6 months?

    How can we turn it off?  For privacy reason we should not be viewing the driver who is a stranger?

    How does it work if we sell the vehicle?  Can we disconnect it and remove it?

    Hi Marc,

    Thank you for reaching out. Yes, it's correct. HOS Data prior to the past 6-month period can be deleted if you submit a Support request to have the setting enabled under the Data Retention settings on your cloud.
    Please refer to this article for more information on Samsara's "Customizable Data Retention Settings".

    Hi Martha, 

    If you sell the vehicle, you can remove the hardware and delete the gateway as described on the page above. 

    If you prefer to keep the data, please refer to the page Deactivate Gateways

    Hi Martha, 

    For a driver that is no longer working for the company. 

    1. You can delete , if you no longer need the data using the page above.

    or 

    2. You can de-activate, if you need the data . Please follow instructions on the page Deactivate Gateways. .
