To permanently remove all associated data from reports, including any dash cam data, you can delete the vehicle from the Samsara dashboard. Alternatively, if you want to preserve the data associated with the vehicle, you can follow the instructions to Deactivate a Vehicle Gateway (VG).
Warning
Vehicles with HOS data cannot be deleted.
To permanently remove a vehicle and its associated data from your organization:

From Fleet Overview ( ) > Assets > Vehicles, locate or search for the vehicle from the vehicle list.

On the vehicle row, select the more actions ( ••• ) menu > Settings.

At the bottom of the settings dialog, select Delete Vehicle.
Note
You cannot delete vehicles that have associated HOS data. The Delete Vehicle button is grayed out for vehicles that have associated HOS data.

How can I remove HOS from a vehicle, so the vehicle can be deleted? For example, we sold the vehicle, and it is no longer in our fleet.

We don't follow HOS and have it disabled and I still cannot delete a vehicle.
So is it correct that we can delete the HOS data after 6 months?
How can we turn it off? For privacy reason we should not be viewing the driver who is a stranger?
How does it work if we sell the vehicle? Can we disconnect it and remove it?

Thank you for reaching out. Yes, it's correct. HOS Data prior to the past 6-month period can be deleted if you submit a Support request to have the setting enabled under the Data Retention settings on your cloud.

If you sell the vehicle, you can remove the hardware and delete the gateway as described on the page above.
If you prefer to keep the data, please refer to the page Deactivate Gateways.
