As part of the Driver Training Course Library, you can create a new training course or import a standard-base eLearning file.

Samsara recommends the following best practices when building your own eLearning course:
-
Content Creation
-
Incorporate diverse media, such as images, videos, and infographics, to enrich course content and keep drivers engaged.
-
Share relevant scenarios and examples to facilitate a deeper level of understanding.
-
Shorten videos and text to help drivers retain key points without experiencing information overload.
-
-
Course Structure
-
Separate distinct topics into different pages to improve clarity and help drivers navigate content.
-
Outline topics and takeaways for each course to set clear expectations.
-
-
Engagement and Accessibility
-
Create interactive courses to enhance engagement.
-
If your fleet comprises speakers of different languages, use a translation tool to translate an existing course into another language.
-
Improve the quality of your training materials by empowering drivers to submit feedback using quizzes or live sessions.
-
When you add a new training course, you can customize the course content by adding images, videos, and a learning assessment quiz.
To create a custom training course:
-
From the Samsara dashboard, select Training (
) > Library.
-
Click Add New > Build a Course.
-
Provide the Course Information details:
-
Title: Provide a name for your custom course content.
-
Course Image: (Optional) Upload a thumbnail image (PNG or JPEG format) to represent the training course both in the Samsara dashboard and in the Samsara Driver App and Samsara Driver Portal.

-
Est. Time to Complete: Estimate the expected time to complete the training course.
-
-
Click Course Content and define the sections within each course with your desired text. As you make changes to your course content, you can also duplicate or delete content types from the more actions ( ••• ) menu on each section.
For each section, define one or more of the following desired course elements:
-
Text: Enter content in the form of headers or body text to describe the section.
-
Media: Add images (in PNG or JPEG format) or video (in MOV, MP4, or QT format). Images have a maximum file size of 3MB and videos have a maximum file size of 100MB.
Tip
Reduce the file size of videos by using a compatible video compression tool.
-
Question: Create quizzes or assessments based on the course content to evaluate comprehension. These assessments can include multiple-choice or multi-select answer options (
> Answer Types (Multiple Choice or Check Boxes) ).
-
-
When you are finished with your course information, select Publish > Publish Now.
The training Library displays the course as Published within the category specified in the course information.
Note
The Samsara dashboard will display an error if your course lacks content.

To manage the course after publication:
