AI Course Builder lets you quickly turn company policies and procedures into interactive training courses and send them directly to the Samsara Driver App and Driver Portal. You can generate courses from uploaded files or text prompts, making it a fast, cost-effective way to improve learning, increase engagement, and support workplace safety. After publishing, course progress and completion can be tracked within the Connected Training platform.
To automatically generate a training course from a PDF, JPEG, or PNG, follow this workflow:

Click Training (
) to access the AI Course Builder from your Samsara dashboard.

Click Add New and Generate from File

Upload a file containing the company policy or procedure you want to convert into a training course. The file should be a PDF, JPG, or PNG up to 15 MB in size.

Click Generate.
After the course is generated, a notification on the bottom right provides a link to your new training.
Note
The course language matches your default organization language setting, regardless of the file language.

Click the course link to review the draft for accuracy and completeness.
Note
If your course only contains questions or skips important content, try re-uploading the file or copying the text directly into the course editor. Results may vary, even when reusing the same file, and PDFs with complex layouts, high page counts, or interactive elements may not generate correctly.

Customize the training course as needed by adding pages, quizzes, and editing the course information. You can also Save the course draft and come back to edit later.

Preview the training to confirm that everything looks correct, then Publish.

When the training is published, you can assign the course, monitor training progress, and identify employees who need follow-up from the training library (Training (
)).
This method lets you create a course by entering a short description. The AI uses your prompt to generate structured training content, including modules, lessons, and quizzes.
To create a course from text, follow this workflow:

Click Training (
) to access the AI Course Builder from your Samsara dashboard.

Click Add New and Generate from Text

Type a brief text prompt describing the desired training topic in the Course Description box or select one of the six default prompts.
Tip
Example prompts you can try include: “Basic warehouse safety for new hires” or “How to perform a pre-trip inspection for heavy-duty vehicles.”

Click Generate.
After the course is generated, a notification on the bottom right provides a link to your new training.

If needed, you can reword your prompt to generate a new course or manually edit the course draft. Results may vary, even when reusing the same prompt.
