You can invite, edit, and delete users in your Samsara dashboard:
With user roles, you can create users with specific permissions within your Samsara dashboard. To invite an administrative user to access your Samsara dashboard:
-
Select the Settings icon ( ) at the bottom of your Fleet menu to view dashboard settings.
-
In Organization > Users & Roles, select + Invite User.
-
Enter the Email address for the administrator account and assign a Role.
See Administrative Roles for more information.
-
To view or edit the role settings for a custom role, expand the role permissions.
-
If you also set up tags, you can assign a tag for a reduced level of access. See Tag Defined Roles.
-
If you want to grant the administrator user access to your Samsara dashboard for a limited time, select Temporary Account and set an account expiration date.
User account expiration dates are useful when you have a contractor that requires access to the Samsara dashboard for a limited time, such as six months or a year.
If you need to invite a Samsara employee to your dashboard you must assign an account expiration date between two (2) hours to 90 days.
-
Save your changes.
You can view the current status of your user invitation in Invitations under the Status column. The Status column indicates if an invite is Pending or Expired. If you do not see any expected pending invitations, reload your page.
To review only Pending invitations, filter by Status. You can also filter the Invitations list by Tags and Roles. If you need to resend or revoke a user invite, select the more actions ( ••• ) menu on the corresponding user row and select Resend or Revoke.
For users with temporary accounts, the expiration date for their Samsara dashboard access is visible in the Users tab under the Access column.
After you Invite a New Administrator, the new user receives an email invite. To accept the invitation, the new user must first click the invitation and create an account to accept the invite. If the user has an existing account, the user must Sign In to accept the invitation link.
To modify or delete an existing user:
-
Select the Settings icon ( ) at the bottom of your Fleet menu to view dashboard settings.
-
In Organization > Users & Roles, select more actions (...) to the right of the user name and select the action:
-
Edit the role of the user or access level.
To remove a role for a user, select delete ( ).
To add additional roles to a user, select +Add role.
-
Delete an administrator account.
-

Save your changes.
You can use bulk upload to either add new admins or update the roles and tags of existing admins. You must be an organizational administrator to bulk upload admins. See Administrative Roles for a description of administrative roles, how to configure them individually, and the specific levels of access that each role receives. To streamline administrator account creation, you can upload the settings for administrators in bulk:
-
Select the Settings icon ( ) at the bottom of your Fleet menu to view dashboard settings.
-
In Organization > Users & Roles, select more actions (...) > Upload CSV.
-
Select Sample Template to download a blank template or Admins List to download a CSV to edit your existing admin roles.
-
Upload a comma-separated values (CSV) file that follows the template guidelines and includes one line for each administrator.

After you Add or Edit Administrators in Bulk, each new administrator on the list must create a password for their new account.
