This feature enables admins and support staff access an account to troubleshoot, assist, or verify configurations. This tool ensures efficiency and accuracy while maintaining user activity visibility.

Activity Tracking: Actions taken during impersonation are logged when the session starts and ends. However, activities performed during impersonation are recorded as actions by the impersonated user. For transparency, both the impersonator and impersonated user can view the activity.

Session Expiry: Impersonation sessions automatically expire after 4 hours.

Access Limitations: You can only impersonate users within your authorized domains. Cross-organization or cross-tag impersonation is not permitted.

Data Sensitivity: Avoid editing sensitive user data unless authorized.
To impersonate another user you must have one of the following:

Full Admin role.

A custom role with the Log in as Other Users permission. Refer to Add a Custom Role for details on configuring custom roles.

Select the Settings icon ( ) at the bottom of your Fleet menu to view dashboard settings.

Select Users & Roles.

Start impersonation.

Search for or find the user account you want to impersonate.

Select more actions ( ••• ) menu > Log in as User and confirm the action.
A purple banner will indicate that you are in impersonation mode, showing your log-in summary and status.

Use the purple banner to toggle between the following modes:

Read Only: Prevents any write actions.

Writes Enabled: Allows all actions. These actions cannot be undone.

Perform any necessary troubleshooting or verification actions as the user.
This can include actions such as:

Verify issues or settings.
-
Configure permissions or alerts.

Perform troubleshooting steps.
From the banner, you can also share a view of the current page as a link to help aid in troubleshooting.

When you are finished, End session from the purple banner to terminate the impersonation.

This article does not address an error that will not allow for me to log in as user for one particular person. I am Full Admin for the Entire Organization. He is Maintenance for the Entire Organization.
There should be no reason I cannot log in as that person.
