Geofenced Privacy Mode applies existing Privacy Mode Camera Recording settings based on vehicle location. Instead of setting a fixed camera behavior across all environments, you can assign specific recording modes to geofenced addresses.
This configuration supports compliance with recording restrictions at sites such as oil refineries, government facilities, and driver residences. When a vehicle enters or exits a configured location, the assigned recording mode is applied automatically. As with Privacy Mode, safety features such as event detection, driver identification, and telematics continue to function regardless of camera status.
Note
Recommended: If your vehicles use CM33 or CM34 dash cams, enable the Recording LED so that drivers have a visual confirmation when cameras are inactive within a geofenced area.
Geofenced Privacy Mode operates under the following conditions:
-
The assigned recording mode is applied automatically when a vehicle enters or exits a geofenced address.
-
Safety features such as event detection, driver assignment, and telematics continue to function regardless of recording status. For more detail on how Privacy Mode affects video availability and event playback, see Privacy Mode Camera Recording.
-
The dashboard shows a warning if the number of configured geofences exceeds the supported limit. Each vehicle supports up to 497 circular geofences or 124 four-point polygon geofences with assigned recording settings.
-
CM-series dash cams must run firmware version cm41.0.4 or higher for Geofenced Privacy Mode to function.
-
Vehicles must have network connectivity to receive updated geofence and recording configurations.
