By default, road-facing Trip images are uploaded to the vehicle Trip History and Trip Timeline at the start and end of every trip. If enabled, the Samsara Dash Cam also uploads inward-facing images and periodic trip images to document En Route progress during a trip. When the trip is complete, the Trip Timeline retains a visual summary of the trip, including route data.
The following image shows an example of trip images available with the Samsara Dual-Facing Dash Cam and a multicam configuration.

The Trip Timeline can include stills and videos from a trip or from times when the camera was recording, even if the vehicle was not on a trip. Images and videos captured when the vehicle is not on a trip are associated with the most recently completed trip. Each image includes trip metadata such as the beginning and endpoint data, assigned driver, and vehicle ID.
If video is available, the thumbnail displays a color-coded indicator below the image with the following meanings:
-
Video request retrieval complete.
-
Video available from a detected safety event or by pressing the Panic Button.
