In-cab audio alerts help your drivers respond to real-time events—whether it’s a harsh brake, unbuckled seatbelt, or extended idling. These alerts can use a simple tone or a voice message to coach drivers toward safer, more compliant behavior.
You can manage alert settings for your entire fleet or customize them for specific vehicles. Alerts are available for both safety and operational events, including AI- and Vehicle Gateway (VG)-detected behaviors.
In-cab audio alerts are supported with the following:
-
Dash Cams: CM12, CM22, CM31, CM32, CM33, CM34
The Samsara Dash Cam provides in-cab alerts with either a tone or voice coaching to notify drivers of detected events.
-
Vehicle Gateways: VG34, VG54, VG55
-
Firmware: VG version 33.1 or later, CM version 40 or later
-
Languages: English (US/UK), Dutch, French, German, Italian, Spanish
-
Connectivity: The VG must be online. If offline, alert delivery expires after 15 minutes.
You can configure two types of audio alerts at the fleet level:
-
Tone Only: A simple alert tone without voice
-
Tone with Voice Coaching: A tone followed by a voice prompt
Voice coaching is available for safety and operational events. The tone or voice alert type applies across all configured detections and cannot be set per event.
You can enable audio alerts for VG-detected safety events, VG-detected operational events, and AI-detected events. From the Voice Coaching setting, you can Configure Fleet-Wide In-cab Alerts or Configure In-cab Voice Coaching for Individual Vehicles.
