Power Take-Off (PTO) is a vehicle capability that uses engine power to operate auxiliary equipment, such as tow truck cranes, bucket lifts, and other job-site tools. PTO visibility in the Samsara dashboard helps you see when auxiliary equipment is active, how long it runs, and the physical location of the vehicle, giving you insight into equipment usage and engine time.
To display PTO information in the Samsara dashboard, you must Configure an Auxiliary Input for your vehicle and set the Input Type to Power Take Off.
If you have PTO enabled for at least one of your vehicles, PTO status is visible in the following areas of your Samsara dashboard:

Activity Report: You can select an individual vehicle from the Activity Report (Reports (
) > Activity Report) to see PTO-related log entries.
These entries indicate when and where PTO was turned on and off for the selected vehicle, with
Power Take-Off onandPower Take-Off offdisplayed in the Status field. -
Assets Summary: The Assets Summary (Overview (
) > Assets) provides real-time visibility into vehicles using PTO. When PTO is enabled for a specific vehicle, the report displays a purple
(ECU) PTOlabel in the Status field. -
Fleet Overview: You can view PTO in the following locations in the Fleet Overview (
) map:

Map Markers: PTO-enabled vehicles display as purple map markers. The marker shape indicates whether the asset is offline, online, or moving.

Asset Preview: Clicking on or hovering over a PTO-enabled vehicle map marker displays a vehicle preview with
(ECU) PTOlabel. -
Asset List: In the asset list on the left side of the Fleet Map, each PTO-enabled vehicle displays an
(ECU) PTOlabel in the top right corner.You can also click More > Asset Status and select (ECU) PTO to filter for vehicles with PTO.
