The Fleet Benchmarks report (Reports ( ) > Fleet Benchmarks) provides tools to evaluate fleet performance by comparing key safety and efficiency metrics against customizable peer groups. The report enables organizations to analyze trends, identify areas for improvement, and benchmark results using advanced comparison and visualization options.
To provide accurate and meaningful comparisons, Samsara dynamically adjusts peer groups based on relevant operational factors and feature settings. Peer groups represent a set of fleets with similar characteristics, such as size, vehicle type, and driving conditions, and are used as the basis for all benchmark calculations.
If a benchmark metric depends on a feature with configurable settings, such as Severe Speeding, Samsara narrows the peer group to include only fleets with similar configurations. This ensures that differences in benchmark results reflect actual performance differences rather than differences in how the data is captured or calculated.
Administrators can configure how performance comparisons are made by selecting from two peer group types:
-
Organization-based comparisons: Compare your organization’s performance against similar external fleets (Edit > Edit Organization). Define comparison criteria such as fleet size, vehicle type, mileage, and driving conditions.
-
Tag-based comparisons: Compare performance across groups within your own organization using tags. After creating a tag group (Edit > Create Segment from Tag), you can switch between tag-based groups and view side-by-side comparisons with your organization’s overall benchmarks.
To calculate benchmarks, select from average, median, top/bottom 10%, or top/bottom 25% to get the most relevant comparison.
