Dash cam footage may sometimes capture sensitive incidents, such as serious injuries or fatalities. To help you manage access to this type of content, Samsara provides a Sensitive context label that you can use to restrict visibility. You can apply this label manually, or you can enable the Sensitive Assets setting to apply it automatically to crash-related footage.
Sensitive is a Context Label that you can apply or remove from any safety event, including both crash and non-crash footage. Use this label to flag potentially graphic or private footage for review by authorized users.
When the label is applied, it behaves as follows:
-
The Sensitive context label is visible to all users in your organization.
-
Only authorized users can apply or remove the label.
-
Only authorized users can view sensitive media; others will see a placeholder instead.
When a video is labeled as sensitive—either automatically or manually—access is also restricted for the following media:
-
Still images created within two minutes of the event timestamp
-
Videos whose start time is within two minutes of the event timestamp
Only the following users can label or view Sensitive footage:
-
Full Admins
-
Users with a custom role with all of the following permissions:
-
Privacy Settings: Sensitive Assets
-
Essentials: Drivers, Gateways, Location Data, Reports
-
Cameras: Driver Assets, External assets
-
When you enable the Sensitive Assets setting, all newly detected or manually created crash events will be automatically marked as Sensitive. This applies only to events that occur after the setting is turned on.
Note
Limitation: If a video retrieval starts more than two minutes before the Sensitive event, it may not be marked as Sensitive. In that case, potential sensitive footage related to the crash may still be visible to users without access.
To configure the Sensitive Assets setting so that new crash events are automatically restricted and labeled as Sensitive, use the following workflow:
