A Vehicle Selection Tag (and Additional Asset Selection Tag) in the driver profile determine which vehicles or trailers are visible to drivers in the Samsara dashboard.
If these fields are populated with tags, the driver will only be able to see and select the vehicles or trailers assigned to those tags. If the fields are blank, the driver can see and select all available vehicles or trailers.
Follow the steps below to resolve the vehicle selection issue based on the symptoms:

The driver cannot see their vehicle in the Samsara Driver App.

The driver cannot change their vehicle in the Samsara Driver App.
There are two primary reasons for vehicle selection issues:

The driver has a vehicle selection tag assigned in their profile, and the tag does not match any vehicle.

The vehicle is pinned to a device, restricting the driver's ability to change it.
Follow the steps below to resolve the issue based on the symptoms:

Check if the driver has a vehicle selection tag assigned in their driver profile.
Note
The vehicle selection tag is distinct from the general Tags field in the driver profile, which is admin-facing and does not impact the Driver App experience.

If a vehicle selection tag is assigned, ensure the vehicle is also assigned to the same tag in its settings.

If the vehicle selection tag field is blank, the driver should be able to see all vehicles on the dashboard.

Check if the vehicle assigned to the driver is grayed out on the Driver App Assignment page.

If the vehicle is grayed out, it is pinned to the device. A pinned vehicle automatically assigns itself to any driver signing in on that device.

To unpin the vehicle:

Select the Settings icon (
) at the bottom of your Fleet menu to view dashboard settings.

Navigate to the Driver App settings.

Click Pin vehicle to device.

Clear the option Lock this device to current Vehicle.

The driver can now unassign the vehicle and select another.
