Tachographs must be locked to the correct company card to meet legal requirements and ensure successful tachograph downloads. If a tachograph is locked to the wrong company card, downloads may fail or return incomplete data. This situation commonly occurs when vehicle ownership changes or when vehicles are leased or rented.
One or more of the following symptoms may occur when the tachograph is locked to the wrong company card:
-
Tachograph downloads fail or cannot be completed.
-
Downloaded files are missing company data.
-
The tachograph displays a message indicating that a different company card is locked in.
-
No download error is shown, but data is unavailable in compliance reports.
This issue occurs when the tachograph is locked to a company card that does not belong to the current vehicle operator. This can happen if the vehicle was previously owned by another company, returned from a rental or lease, or if a lock-out was not performed before the vehicle changed hands.
To perform the lock-in or lock-out function please check the instructions of your tachograph manufacturer.
