As new drivers join your fleet, you must create a driver profile. The driver profile contains identification and other information required for compliance such as driver name, phone number, license number, and state. In the driver profile, you also define the username and password the driver will use to log in to the Samsara Driver App. As an alternative to adding drivers one-by-one, you can Add or Edit Drivers in Bulk.
A driver account is active only within the organization where it was created and cannot be transferred to a different organization.
After adding your drivers, all driver information can be updated from the Driver page in Settings.
To add a driver:

Select the Settings icon (
) at the bottom of your Fleet menu to view dashboard settings.

In Organization, select Drivers. Click + Add a driver to access the driver creation form.

Enter the Driver Name and any additional information you want to collect about the driver. At a minimum define the following information for each driver:

Driver Name

Driver's License State and Number
This is required for ELD drivers only. If your driver is not required to use ELD, mark them as ELD Exempt.

Unique Samsara Driver App Username and Password.
Drivers will need to enter their credentials every time they log into the app.
Tip
For a more secure password, consider the following recommendations:

Include at least 10 characters.

Mix uppercase and lowercase letters.

Add numbers and symbols (for example: #, $, %, &).

Avoid common words, sequences, or personal information.
If the password follows all these recommendations, a
Strongindicator will display.The same username cannot be assigned to multiple drivers. If a username is already taken, you can find out which driver has been assigned to it in Settings (
) > Drivers and then search for the username in Active Drivers or Deactivated Drivers.

Fill out any additional optional information about the driver. For a full list of fields, see Driver Profile Settings. Examples include:

Turn on Personal Conveyance or Yard Move.

Set a driver timezone if they often drive in a different time zone than the home office.

When you are done, Save the driver profile.

Send the credentials along with the Fleet ID to the driver to use to log into the Samsara Driver App.
