If your CSV file for drivers, devices, or other data was created in Excel with the German language setting on your operating system, an error message can appear in Samsara when you try to upload it.
-
You have your operating system set to the German language setting and an error appears when you try to upload a CSV file to Samsara.
The error occurs because the semicolon ( ; ) is not recognized as a valid column separator in Samsara when using the German language setting on your operating system.
As a workaround, we recommend you use Google Sheets to edit and create your CSV files. If you prefer to use Microsoft Excel, refer to the following topics to troubleshoot:
-
Open the Control Panel.
-
Select Language & Region.
-
Change the system language and region to English.
-
Restart your computer.
-
Open the CSV file with Microsoft Excel.
You can now upload the CSV file to Samsara. If you have completed these steps and still encounter errors, contact Support.
-
Open General settings.
-
Navigate to Language & Region.
-
Add English (UK) as the primary language setting.
-
Restart your computer.
-
Open the CSV file with Microsoft Excel.
You can now upload the CSV file to Samsara. If you have completed these steps and still encounter errors, contact Support.
