The Samsara Driver App home screen can be tailored to different driver and worker roles. You can use pre-built or custom configurations that show only the modules relevant to each role. This approach makes the app easier to use and helps drivers focus on the tasks most important to them.
Three pre-built home screen templates are available in the dashboard for regulated drivers, non-regulated drivers, and general workers. You can assign these templates to groups of drivers or use them as a starting point for custom configurations. After a template is assigned, the Samsara Driver App displays only the modules relevant to that driver role. The table below shows which modules are included in each template:

You can assign a home screen template in two ways: by applying it to a Worker Type Attribute or by adding individual drivers directly during the assignment flow. Drivers without an assigned template will see the full Samsara Driver App home screen with all modules visible, without role-based customization.
To assign a home screen template, use the following workflow:

Add drivers directly or group your drivers using the Worker Type Attribute.
For example, create Worker Type values such as
Delivery Driver,Mechanic, orTL Driverand then add drivers to the groups. -
Select the Settings icon (
) at the bottom of your Fleet menu to view dashboard settings.

Navigate to Driver App > Home Screens.

Choose your template type.
You can use a default template as is, or you can create a custom template. To create the custom template:

Click Create App Experience to start fresh, or click the more actions ( ••• ) menu next to any default template to use it as a base.

Give your template a descriptive name.

From the Customize panel, choose the quick actions and models you want to display. You can toggle each option on or off, and drag items to reorder them as needed.

Click the Bottom Nav tab to customize the shortcuts that display along the bottom of the Samsara Driver App. You can toggle each option on or off, and drag items to reorder them as needed.

Save your template.

Assign a home screen template by Worker Type attribute or add drivers directly.
Click the person icon to assign the appropriate Worker Type to the homsecreen of your choosing.
The Samsara Driver App home screen includes built-in task guidance and configurable quick actions. Task guidance shows drivers what to do next, while quick actions can be customized in each home screen template to give drivers one-tap access to frequently used functions:

Popup guides: Popup messages that guide users to their next task and disappears when tasks are complete.

Quick actions: A series of buttons above the home screen modules grants swift access to functions like Sign Out, Status Update, Team Management, Asset Selection. The options that are presented vary by the module.
