Samsara unpowered asset gateways (AGs), such as AG45, AG46, and AG51, are asset gateways designed to check in and report location at a set check-in schedule. By default, the unpowered AG checks in every 12 hours. You can customize the check-in rate or, for enhanced security and asset tracking, you can also enable and Configure Wake on Motion to report asset location upon movement with customized Wake on Motion alerts and check-in rates.Asset Gateway Power Loss Settings
To view the historical record of all asset movements including when and where a device starts and stops moving, you can view the asset Check-In History:
Samsara automatically logs the time and location of the unpowered AG every 12 hours. You can modify this frequency by device or for all devices.
In the event of a schedule conflict, the Check-in Schedule in the individual device settings takes precedence over any Check-in Schedule set for your organization.

To more closely monitor your assets, you can enable Wake on Motion to detect and report movement. After the AG detects two minutes of continuous movement, the gateway checks in and the Asset page displays a green button next to the asset. The gateway checks in again when movements stops for more than two minutes. Optionally, you can also set a custom check-in while the device is in motion to supersede the check-in schedule set for the unit.
For full visibility into the movement of an asset, you can enable Movement alerts. See Create or Edit Alerts to configure an alert.
Note
More frequent check-in rates decrease battery life. Wake on Motion increases asset activity and decreases the battery life by 15% (from 4 years, to approximately 3.25 years).
