Find Nearby helps you locate an Asset Tag when you're physically near it. While maps offer an approximate location, this feature guides you to the precise spot using Bluetooth signals. Find Nearby is available in the Samsara Fleet App and Samsara Driver App and works with AT11 Asset Tags.
Find Nearby is particularly helpful when assets are spread out—on job sites, yards, or warehouses—and you need to track down the exact position of an Asset Tag. Find Nearby requires firmware updates and Bluetooth access to function correctly.

Before using Find Nearby to locate an Asset Tag, ensure the following:

Your mobile device has the latest version of the Samsara Fleet App or Samsara Driver App.

Bluetooth is enabled on your device, and Bluetooth permissions are granted to the Samsara apps.
To find the precise location of an Asset Tag, use the following workflow:

Open the Samsara Fleet App or Samsara Driver App to view your assets.

If you are using the Samsara Driver App, the Samsara Driver App Map must be enabled from the Customizable Driver App Settings first.

Choose the Asset Tag that you want to locate.

Samsara Fleet App: Select the Asset Tag on the map or search for the Asset Tag by name.

Samsara Driver App: Search for the Asset Tag by name.

Tap Find.

If you're not within Bluetooth range, the app will wait to detect a signal from the Asset Tag before guiding you to its location.

Once in range, a blue circle displays in the app.
As you move towards the asset, the following indicators signify your distance to the asset:

The blue circle grows inward to indicate stronger signal strength.

Text labels progress from Far, Near, Close, to Here.

(Optional) To distinguish an asset from similar nearby assets, tap Blink LED to briefly flash the light of your tag.
Your Asset Tag may require an update before Find Nearby is available. Asset Tags update automatically when near a Samsara Gateway.
To ensure the automatic update is successful, ensure the following:

The Asset Tag remains within 100 feet of a Samsara Gateway for 15 minutes.

The vehicle, asset, or wall plug connected to the Gateway is powered on.
