Your Samsara Vehicle Gateway pulls the odometer value automatically from the vehicle engine control unit (ECU) and displays it on your vehicle settings. However, if the odometer value it is not pulled automatically, you can input the odometer value manually.
Note
Manual entry for odometer readings is for maintenance purposes only. Odometer readings that are set manually will update as GPS trip data is gathered.
Before you edit the odometer value on a regulated vehicle, see Edit the Odometer on a Regulated Vehicle.
Manually set the odometer reading on a vehicle:
-
From the Samsara dashboard, select Overview ( ) > Assets > Vehicles.
-
Locate the vehicle from the Vehicles list or Search vehicles to narrow the scope of the results.
-
Select the more actions menu ( ... ) > Settings.
-
Locate the Odometer settings and click Edit.
If you cannot edit the odometer value, see Edit the Odometer on a Regulated Vehicle.
-
Enter the mileage for the vehicle and Save your changes.
The new odometer value displays on the vehicle details page and uses GPS data to make future updates.
If your vehicle is a regulated vehicle and is required to be ELD compliant, the vehicle odometer may not be adjustable.
When an odometer value is reported by the Engine Control Module (ECM), Samsara must use this value as the valid odometer reading; therefore, this value cannot be edited. For more information, see FMCSA Requirements for ELDs.
If the odometer is not automatically reporting odometer readings, then please contact Samsara Support.
