You can view the battery status of Samsara sensors (ie environmental monitors, door sensors, and cargo sensors) in the Gateway Health Report of your dashboard. If battery level readings are low, batteries likely require replacement.
Samsara recommends FANSO ER14505M Lithium batteries when you replace existing batteries in Samsara sensors.
Do not attempt to disassemble or modify lithium batteries or Samsara monitors. It is your responsibility to replace Samsara sensor batteries and you do so at your own risk. Refer to the replacement battery’s Safety Datasheet for more safety information about lithium iron disulfide batteries.
To reduce the likelihood of possible injury, replace batteries with the battery type and replacement procedure recommended by Samsara. Reference the product documentation for the recommended battery for more information.
Batteries may only be replaced by a trained technician. Lithium battery training is available online, but Samsara provides this link only for convenience without warranty of any kind and is not responsible for the content or sufficiency of the identified training.
Improper replacement of the batteries may result in fire, personal injury, and damage to property.
Review the following guidelines for battery replacement and follow all instructions in a safe area outside of any building or vehicle away from any combustible material:
With a Phillips screwdriver, remove the back enclosure of the sensor.
Use a pry tool or a suction cup to aid in removal of the back enclosure.
Inspect the sensor and ensure it does not show any evidence of water ingress, corrosion or physical damage. If the device indicates potential incidences of water ingress, corrosion, or physical damage, request or purchase a replacement device instead of proceeding with battery replacement.
If the device does not indicate incidences of water ingress, corrosion, or physical damage, remove the plastic battery cover and replace the existing battery with the battery recommended above. Take care to not puncture, crush, or short circuit the battery during this process. Be sure to correctly position the battery. Find the positive and negative indicators inside the device and on the battery. Do not use alternate battery types.
After the battery is securely placed, return the plastic battery cover and the back enclosure to its original position and apply ample pressure to the edges of the back panel to ensure the panel seal is set. Lock the panel in place with the device screws.
Dispose used batteries safely and in accordance with applicable laws.
