The Service Logs page displays the service information for vehicles in your fleet. With Service Logs you can record regular checks for vehicle road-worthiness, such as daily inspections and safety checks, and the completion of regular required checks, such as MOT and Tacho calibration. You can also keep records of defects and proof of defect resolution by including attachments to service log entries, enabling you to streamline service management by storing important information in one centralized location.

A service log contains log entries that store information about servicing done on a vehicle. When creating a service log, you can include detailed fields for each vehicle in your fleet and efficiently manage servicing information.
Follow the workflow below to create a service log and monitor your fleet's service information:

Hover over Maintenance() from the Samsara dashboard and select Service Logs.

Select + Create Log Entry on the top right corner of the page.

Provide the details for your service log:

Service date: Choose the Service date (defaulted to the current date).

Asset: Select the name of the asset on which the service was performed.

(Optional) Include Maintenance notes, Asset odometer, Engine hours, and Cost.

(Optional) To add an attachment, select Upload files or drag and drop files.

Save your changes.
If you later want to change a service log, you can return to the Service Logs page. For the log you want to edit, select the more actions menu (...) and either Edit or Delete it.
After you create a service log, you can view the following information for each log:

Total number of hours the engine has been running. |

Total cost for the service. |

Uploaded attachments such as invoices, defect documentation, and photos. |
Within the Service Logs page, you can find service log entries and view the details of each log.
To search for specific service log entries, use any of the following filter options:

Search with Tags: Search for logs associated with vehicles under the chosen tags.

Search by Attributes: Search for logs associated with vehicles under the selected attributes.

Use the search bar: Find logs using a full or partial asset name or maintenance notes.

View the details of a service log: For a detailed view of a service log entry, select a service log within the Service Logs page. Here, you can see details of the log, including the fields completed in the log creation form, as well as previews of the documents attached.
When a scheduled maintenance item is marked as Resolved in the Upcoming Preventative Maintenance Items page, Samsara automatically creates a log in the Service Logs page where a mechanic or admin can record servicing details.
If an unplanned service has been performed on a vehicle, you can Log Unscheduled Maintenance.
