As part of your Mobile Experience Management (MEM) policy, you can choose to restrict access to certain device settings, or block access to settings entirely. This can be useful if you want to prevent device users from performing certain actions such as factory resetting devices, accessing camera, configuring networks.
-
Select the Settings icon ( ) at the bottom of your Fleet menu to view dashboard settings.
-
Before you configure settings restrictions, Enroll Your Organization.
-
In MEM, select Policy.
-
On the General tab, Enable access to Settings app and configure the permitted Connectivity and Security settings you want to allow your users to access.
For example, clear the Factory Reset option to ensure all enrolled devices cannot perform a factory reset within their settings. If you want to block access to settings entirely, you can toggle the Enable access to Settings to the off position.
Caution
Use caution when disabling access to all settings. For example, if the Wi-Fi connection is lost and your users are unable to access device settings, you may need to factory reset the device to reconnect to the internet.
-
Enable access to System apps to allow users on enrolled devices to access system apps such as SMS, the Camera, and the phone to make Outgoing Calls.
-
In the top right, Publish to <X> devices. Samsara will deliver the policy update to any associated devices as soon as they connect to the internet.
