A driver's duty status may display as Disconnected in the Samsara dashboard if the Samsara Driver App does not have an active internet connection to the cloud. See Internet Connectivity States and Best Practices for more information.
On the Reports & Driver HOS screen, the driver's status will display as Disconnected in a gray label. This can happen for a few reasons:

The driver’s tablet or phone is not connected to the internet or is in an area with weak connectivity.

The Samsara Driver App has been minimized and is no longer visible on the device’s screen.
While the app is disconnected, the Samsara Driver App stores data on the device itself, and uploads that information the next time the app is opened or the device regains an internet connection.
