In each Coaching Session, coaches can see a summary of behaviors that need coaching and assign a status to show if the behavior was addressed, needs follow-up, or should be skipped. They can also drill into each behavior to view related events as part of the Driver Coaching Workflow and Share a Safety Event to a Driver for Self-Review or Coaching.
During a coaching session, you can review flagged behaviors, related videos, and key guidance to support effective coaching:

Video Display for Multi-Label Events: If a safety event has more than one label such as
Distracted DrivingandSpeeding, the video appears on each associated behavior report within the session. -
Safety Tips: Displays at the top of each behavior with an explanation and recommended coaching guidance. You can also sort events by Newest, Oldest, or Starred to prioritize coaching.

Session Summary: At the end of the session, Samsara generates a summary that highlights the coached behaviors and displays video thumbnails for each detected behavior.
To review a safety behavior and coach a driver:

Navigate to Safety (
) > Coaching > Upcoming.

Locate the driver from the list and select Coach.

If there are multiple behavior types to coach, select the behavior type to coach for the coaching session.

Review the Safety Tip for a description of why the event was flagged and to review recommendations for correcting the behavior.

Review the video thumbnail. Hover over the video thumbnail to autoplay the incident or click the video to view a larger video format of the event.

To view the Safety Event Summary and perform event actions, such as assign a coach, driver, training course, or event status, click the more actions ( ••• ) menu > View Details.

If the event does not need any additional investigation or coaching, you can Dismiss Event.
A dismissed coaching status excludes the event from the Coaching reports and removes the event from the safety score calculation.

To summarize your coaching session or add training and behavior notes, click ( + ) next to Behavior Notes. Save to append the notes to the coaching session.

To send an event to a driver to review an observed safety behavior, click Send to driver (
).
Shared events can allow for self-coaching or require manager coaching (see also Share a Safety Event to a Driver for Self-Review or Coaching).

To complete the coaching session and view the Session Summary, Mark behavior as coached and then confirm as Complete. You and your driver can optionally sign the coaching summary to confirm completion and accuracy.

(Optional) To assign self-guided Driver Training Courses for Safety Behaviors for drivers to complete from within the Samsara Driver App, click + Add course. Assign a due date and Assign to send the training course to the driver.

The coached event moves from the Coaching Upcoming report to the Completed Coaching Sessions report.
