Coaches can send HOS violation events to coaching from the Hours of Service Violations Report in the Samsara dashboard. In each Coaching Session, they can view behaviors that need attention and assign a coaching status as part of the Driver Coaching Workflow. Coaches can also drill into specific behaviors to see related events. Drivers can also review their own events.
You can sort events by Newest or Oldest.
At the end of the coaching session, Samsara generates a coaching Session Summary which highlights the behaviors coached.
Use the following workflow to review an HOS violation behavior and coach a driver:
-
Navigate to Safety (
) > Coaching > Upcoming.
-
Locate the driver with an HOS violation from the list. Hover over the driver row and select Coach.
If there are multiple behavior types to coach (such as Drowsiness and Harsh Brake), you can coach on all behaviors or choose HOS Violations under the Compliance section of the Coaching Session.
-
Review the driver log for the selected event.
Each day with violations includes details regarding each event. You can also review surrounding days for additional context.
-
From the more actions ( ••• ) menu, you can perform the following actions:
-
Message Driver: Send a message to the driver. The message will display in the Samsara Driver App.
-
View Event Log: Open the Driver Hours of Service Audit Report
-
-
If the event does not need any additional investigation or coaching, you can select the more actions ( ••• ) menu > Remove from Coaching.
-
To summarize your coaching session or add training and behavior notes, click ( + ) next to Behavior Notes. Save to append the notes to the coaching session.
-
To complete the coaching session and view the Session Summary, Mark behavior as coached and then confirm as Complete. You and your driver can optionally sign the coaching summary to confirm completion and accuracy.
-
The coached event moves from the Coaching Upcoming report to the Completed Coaching Sessions report.
