Starting with Samsara Driver’s 06/08/2020 update, drivers will be able to use the Samsara Driver App without needing to select a vehicle. With this change drivers will be able to:
- Check their HOS logs
- Edit their HOS logs
- Submit or view a document
- View their upcoming routes
All without having to select a vehicle. This will avoid drivers selecting a vehicle to do these tasks and causing issues with data such as events being tied to the incorrect driver.
How to access the app without a vehicle
When signing in to the driver app, drivers are presented with the vehicle selection page. If they hit “Done” without selecting a vehicle, they will be taken to the Home Page. They will then see the following screen:
When a driver sees this screen, they do not have any vehicle selected. Drivers will be able to select a vehicle by hitting the ‘Select a Vehicle’ button or accessing the yellow ‘Vehicles’ tile.
When a driver does not have a vehicle selected, they will not be able to:
- Submit a DVIR
- Change to a ‘driving’ duty status (Driving, Personal Conveyance or Yard Move)
In order to perform these tasks, a driver must select a vehicle.
