The Camera Health report enables you to quickly gauge the health of your dash cameras and camera connectors to determine when action is required (Reports ( ) > Devices > Camera Health). The Dash Cam and Camera Connector reports display the device health status and recommendations to remediate any issues detected.
The Dash Cam report and the Camera Connectors report display dash cameras and camera connectors that have been connected at least once to a Vehicle Gateway (VG) within the past 30 days and up to 50 hours of drive time. To enhance page performance, data refreshes in the reports every 4-6 hours.
To view the Camera Health reports, you must be a Full Admin or have a custom role with the Safety permission to view Camera Health.
Select the Dash Cam report from the Camera Health report to display a health status chart of all dual and front-facing dash cams with AI capabilities and a detailed table of individual dash cams. Samsara measures camera health by analyzing the percentage of time the vehicle is on an active trip as compared to the time that the camera is successfully recording (uptime).
The Camera Status summary chart displays the distribution of healthy devices to devices that require attention. Select a health status data figure to narrow the scope of the device results.
The table displays dash cam uptime in 5, 10-hour segments to visually represent device health. Hover over a 10-hour block to view additional details about the health state during that time.
Select a Health Status or Tag to narrow the scope of the devices that the report displays. The following table provides a breakdown of health statuses and recommended troubleshooting actions:

After you install a camera connector, you can use the Camera Connector Health report to monitor the health of your devices (for full installation instructions, see HD connector instructions, Standard connector instructions). Samsara measures camera health by analyzing the percentage of time the vehicle is on an active trip as compared to the time that the camera is successfully recording (uptime). Expected uptime is based on the attribute (Reverse Only
or Ignition On
) that you assign when you enable functionality.
Select the Camera Connector report from the Camera Health report to display a circle chart of the device health status of all camera connectors and a table of individual camera connectors and their respective health.

For a comprehensive camera health report, you can also export the file for offline analysis or tracking purposes. To export, navigate to more actions (...) on the report and select the file type to download. You can also create a Create Custom Report or Create Scheduled Report. The Camera Health fields that pre-populate in the Custom Report include the device name, the camera status, and the last time and location the device and camera were connected.
