Smart Maps Overlays enhance fleet safety by providing real-time visibility into active construction zones directly on the Samsara Driver App. This feature helps fleet managers identify external risks, plan safer routes, and minimize hazards related to roadwork activity.
Construction Zones Overlays highlight construction zones using machine learning to analyze images from Samsara road-facing cameras. The data updates every two weeks to ensure accuracy and relevance. This overlay is available in the US only.
The Construction Zones Overlay highlights areas with active construction detected through Samsara machine learning models. Construction zone data refreshes every two weeks.
To apply this overlay:

Open the Fleet Overview page on your Samsara dashboard.

Click Map Options in the top-right corner of the dashboard.

Select Construction Zones from the dropdown menu.

Hover over an orange construction zone icon to view an image of the site.

Provide feedback on the displayed image by clicking the thumbs up or thumbs down icon to improve detection accuracy.
The Weather Overlay displays current and forecasted weather conditions on the map. Weather information updates in real-time.
To apply this overlay:

Open the Fleet Overview page on your Samsara dashboard.

Click Map Options in the top-right corner of the dashboard.

Select Weather from the dropdown menu.

Click the triangular Play button at the bottom of the map to view an animated weather forecast.

Use the Radar dropdown menu to select specific weather details, such as wind speed, snow, or temperature.
