You can now enable the Samsara Driver App to reorder delivery stops in response to real-time conditions such as traffic delays and priority changes. This empowers drivers to adjust routes without dispatcher approval, automates ETA updates, and provides fleet managers with insights to optimize resource allocation, enhancing overall operational flexibility and efficiency.
Drivers can adjust the sequence of their route stops in response to real-time conditions and unexpected events. To reorder route stops:
-
From the Routes page in the Driver app, select the active route and then tap Edit.
-
To rearrange the list of scheduled stops, drag and drop them into the desired order.
You can also re-schedule stops previously marked as skipped back into their active route. During the stop order editing process, you can drag a skipped stop back into the sequence of upcoming stops, effectively rescheduling it for future arrival.
-
After reordering the stops, tap the Save button and provide a brief explanation for the adjustments made.
After you confirm the changes, the app automatically recalculates the route's estimated times of arrival (ETAs) based on the new order and updates this information across the interfaces for both the driver and fleet administrators, ensuring immediate access to the most accurate and up-to-date route details.
You can quickly view how many route adjustments have been from the Dispatch > Routes page Samsara dashboard. Here you can observe the Stops Changed field, which indicates the number of stops that have been reordered. When you select a particular route to access a live view of the current stop sequence, you can hover over any stop that has been re-ordered to review the driver's rationale behind the adjustment.
Route adjustments also trigger an alert on the Samsara dashboard. The alert displays both the original and new route configurations, alongside clear indicators highlighting which stops have been reordered. For more information, see View Alert Incidents.
