When you install an AG on an asset, you can view and update the associated asset information from your Samsara dashboard. Available AG settings are dependent on the accessory options installed and the features enabled for your fleet.

The following table summarizes the settings you can view or edit for your powered AG and its associated asset. To edit these settings, see Edit Settings for an Individual AG.

Name |
The name of the associated asset. When you first add a gateway, the Samsara dashboard identifies it by serial number. For ease of management and identification, use descriptive names for your gateways. |

Serial number associated with the gateway. This field is not editable. |
License Plate |
License plate of the paired asset. |
Tags & Attributes |
Tags or attributes associated with the asset. |
Aux Input Type |
Auxiliary input usage of the connected device and the associated port number, 1 or 2. Examples include Privacy Buttons, Emergency Lights, and Weight Sensors. For more information, see Configure an Auxiliary Input. |
Asset Serial Number |
Serial number associated with the asset. |
VIN |
Asset Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) associated with the AG. If the value is detected and located in the US public database, the asset make, model, and year will display on the asset details. |
Odometer |
Estimated distance traveled by the asset (mi or km) as calculated by GPS from the AG. To begin tracking mileage, provide a value greater than 0. |
Engine hours |
Equipment engine hours. Edit your engine hours when you Configure an Auxiliary Input as an engine. |
Check-in frequency |
In the event of power loss, the AG checks in every 12 hours, by default. To change this frequency, select a frequency in Device-specific settings (Every 30 minutes, Every 1 hour, Every 2 hours, Every 6 hours, Every 12 hours, Every 24 hours). Unpowered Asset Gateway Check-in Frequency |
By default, the unpowered AG checks in every 12 hours. To change the frequency for this asset, select a frequency in Device-specific settings (Every 30 minutes, Every 1 hour, Every 2 hours, Every 6 hours, Every 12 hours, Every 24 hours). To view or edit the settings for an individual gateway:

Select the Settings icon ( ) at the bottom of your Fleet menu to view dashboard settings.

From within Devices, select Devices > Gateways.

Locate the gateway from the list. To narrow the scope of the results, Search for the gateway or filter the options by Tags or Attributes.

On the device row, click the more actions ( ••• ) menu > Settings.

Edit the device settings and Save to confirm the changes.
