Commercial vehicles located in Alberta must pass vehicle inspections in order to be compliant with that province's regulations. To pass a commercial vehicle inspection, a commercial vehicle must comply with Alberta's specific mounting instructions for objects attached to vehicle windshields.

Per the Alberta Commercial Vehicle Inspection Manual, Version 2.0:

-
Do not mount the camera in a position where the device obscures vision in the area swept by OEM windshield wipers. Additionally, do not mount the camera in any way that clouds, damages, or deteriorates the vision area in such a way that driver’s normal vision is materially impaired in the area swept by OEM windshield wipers.
