You can export device lists from the Samsara dashboard to review serial numbers, license assignments, models, and related device details in a spreadsheet. Use these exports to track which devices are installed or licensed across your fleet, and to reconcile hardware from contracts or sales orders.
To open Billing and download an Itemized Cost Breakdown, you need Billing and Itemized Billing permissions. The Licenses column in the Devices List CSV requires License Assignment permissions and Itemized Cost Breakdown enabled for your organization.
Download a list of registered devices and their key details from Settings > Devices. Use Download CSV for a quick inventory export, or Download Devices List when you need the upload-compatible Devices List CSV.

Select the Settings icon (
) at the bottom of your Fleet menu.

Select Devices and then click More actions.

Select Download CSV.
The exported CSV includes fields such as device name, gateway model, gateway serial, tags, and other device details available for your organization. Filter or sort the file in your spreadsheet tool to find specific serial numbers.
Note
Download CSV and Download Devices List are different exports. To download the Devices List CSV used for bulk edits and license assignment, select More actions > Upload CSV, then select Download Devices List.
Use the Devices List CSV and its Licenses column when you need to see which devices have hardware licenses assigned.

Select Upload CSV.

Select Download Devices List.
When Itemized Cost Breakdown is enabled and your role includes License Assignment permissions, the CSV includes a Licenses column that lists every hardware license assigned to each device. Filter or sort this column in your spreadsheet tool to create the license breakdown you need.
To review which licenses correspond to which device serial numbers and assets, download an Itemized Cost Breakdown from Billing. The breakdown includes entity-level license assignment details such as asset name, device serial, and license dates.

Select the Settings icon (
) at the bottom of your Fleet menu.

Go to Organization > Billing.

Click More actions, then select Manage Itemized Cost Breakdown.

Select Open Breakdown for the invoice you want to review.
Open Breakdown downloads an Excel Itemized Cost Breakdown. Open the file in Excel or a similar tool and search for serial numbers, license IDs, or asset names to locate a specific device.

Manage Itemized Cost Breakdown and Open Breakdown are available when Itemized Cost Breakdown is enabled for your organization. If these options are unavailable, contact Samsara Billing Support.
You can export serial numbers tied to a specific contract or sales order, then compare them with a Devices export to check which devices are activated.

) at the bottom of your Fleet menu.

Go to Organization > Billing.

Select the Contracts tab.

Open the contract, then select the relevant sales order.

Click See device serials.

Click Download CSV to export the order's device serial numbers.
The CSV includes each serial number and its activation status. Cross-check serials from the order CSV against a Devices export to determine which devices from that order are currently activated.
