Note
WhatsApp Alerts are in Beta for Mexico and Europe. To participate, reach out to your Samsara account representative.
With WhatsApp alerts, you have the option to receive notifications via WhatsApp when specific events occur in your organization.
How It Works
Setting Up WhatsApp Notifications
To receive WhatsApp notifications, you must first configure the user or contact, and then you can configure the alerts to receive.
Users or Contacts Configuration
To begin to receive WhatsApp notifications, you must first enable WhatsApp under individual User Profile (Settings > Users & Roles > ... > Edit) or Contact (Settings > Alert Contacts > Edit).
By default, this option will be OFF.
When you enable this option for the first time for a phone number, that number receives a one-time opt-in confirmation message from WhatsApp.
Alerts Configuration
After you enable WhatsApp notifications in User or Contact, you must add that User or Contact as an alert recipient under alert configurations.
The blue WhatsApp icon indicates that WhatsApp notification is turned on for a recipient. You can control the WhatsApp notifications by clicking on the icon.
Note that the original SMS icon is replaced with a WhatsApp icon.
Receive WhatsApp Notifications
After you enable WhatsApp Notifications under Contacts, WhatsApp notifications replace SMS notifications. When you enable under both Contacts and Alerts configurations, you will receive WhatsApp notifications on new alert incidents.
Stop WhatsApp Notifications
To stop WhatsApp notifications, you have the option to reply “STOP” to the WhatsApp number to unsubscribe from Samsara WhatsApp alert notifications. After you are unsubscribed, you will begin receiving SMS notifications. To resubscribe to WhatsApp notifications, simply text “START” to the same WhatsApp number.
Disable WhatsApp Notifications
To disable WhatsApp notifications, you can disable the alert under the individual Contact setting by unchecking the WhatsApp alert option. After you disable WhatsApp Notifications under Contacts, you will receive SMS notifications on new alert incidents.
