If your drivers lack access to the Samsara Driver App and your vehicles are consistently operated by the same drivers, the Static Vehicle Assignment feature in the Samsara dashboard can streamline your operations. This setting automatically links a vehicle to its driver on a permanent basis, eliminating the need for daily reassignments, until you decide to alter the assignment.
Note
Do not use Static Vehicle Assignment if your drivers use the Samsara Driver App. Static assignments are not ELD compliant and have no effect on vehicle selection in the app.
To manually assign a driver to a vehicle gateway, perform the following workflow:

Select the Settings icon (
) at the bottom of your Fleet menu to view dashboard settings.

Within Organization settings, select Drivers.

In the row for a driver, click the more actions ( ••• ) menu and then select Edit.
If you need to create a new driver, see Manage Driver Accounts.

Select a Static Vehicle Assignment.
Only vehicles with vehicle gateways can be assigned to a driver.

Save to confirm the changes.
