If your administrator has enabled driver assignments using QR codes, you can sign in to your vehicle using your personalized QR code (for administrator settings, see Driver Assignment Using QR Codes (for Admins)).
Warning
Using QR codes for driver assignment does not substitute for the Samsara Driver App to manage Hours of Service. For HOS reporting, you must use a VG as an ELD in combination with the Samsara Driver App.
To ensure a successful driver assignment, observe the following recommendations when signing in with your QR code:

Ensure there is adequate in-cab lighting. For optimal scanning, use bright, shadow-free lighting. If visibility is limited, such as at night, turn on the in-cab light to improve scan quality.

If you are using a QR code on your mobile device, adjust your phone display settings to a low to moderate brightness level.

If the dash cam does not immediately recognize the QR code, hold the code two inches from the camera and slowly increase the distance by pulling it away. Slowly decrease the distance and repeat as needed until the camera detects the code.

Hold the QR code directly in front of the camera lens.
After an admin sends the QR code access link to your mobile device, click the link to view the QR code. Your QR code access link will remain valid for up to 30 days after you receive the text message.
From the link, chose your preference to save the QR code:

Save to photos: From the image options on the device, select the option to save the image to the photos. The workflow may vary slightly depending the device, but typically, just tap and hold the image to view the Save to Photos option.

Save to files: Tap Download QR Code to save the image file to the mobile device.
When you have your QR code accessible, perform the following workflow to assign yourself to your vehicle:

Turn the vehicle's engine to the on position.

If your administrator has enabled in-cab reminders, wait approximately 30 seconds for the audible prompt to please sign in. When you hear the prompt, position the QR code 2 to 6 inches from the center of the camera and hold the position for approximately 10 seconds. For scanning tips, see QR Code Sign-in Best Practices.
When the sign-in is successful, the camera will alert sign-in successful.
Note
In-cab reminders will play regardless of the driver assignment method used. For example, if you sign in using the Samsara Driver App, the reminder to sign in using the QR code will still play.

If your administrator has not enabled in-cab reminders, wait approximately 30 seconds after you engage your vehicle's engine. Then, position the QR code 2 to 6 inches from the center of the camera and hold the position for approximately 10 to 20 seconds. For scanning tips, see QR Code Sign-in Best Practices.

If you did not sign in before driving the vehicle and the in-cab reminders to sign in persist, safely bring the vehicle to complete stop before you attempt to sign in.
