If you continue to experience issues after performing the troubleshooting steps below, reboot the device by pressing and holding the reset button for 5 seconds. Reattempt the troubleshooting sequence. If the LED is unresponsive, contact Support.

If you experience battery issues or the Samsara dashboard reports Low Gateway Battery

Replace the AG battery. For battery replacement instructions, see Replace the AG51 Batteries.

Ensure the Wake on Motion and Check-in Schedule settings are appropriate for the device.
To improve battery life, Samsara recommends a less frequent check-in frequency.

Ensure that the device is outside and avoid obstructions such as underground or enclosed structures (especially metal enclosures), heavily insulated buildings, bridges, and trees.

Ensure that the device has a clear view of the sky and is in an area with good cellular reception.

From the Samsara dashboard, verify the AG battery life from the asset details by selecting the asset from the Overview ( ).
If the gateway has not connected to the cloud in more than two weeks, the battery could be dead and needs to be replaced. For battery troubleshooting, see Battery issues.

To initiate a test ping, press and hold the button on the AG faceplate until the LED illuminates green, for no more than 2-3 seconds.
Warning
If you press the setup button for more than 4 seconds, the device will reboot. If the device reboots, wait five minutes before you restart the test ping in this step.
The LED flashes green every 3 seconds for up to 5 minutes while the device attempts to check in with the Samsara dashboard. After the device determines status, the LED displays a color LED for 5 seconds to indicate the connection status. To surface the most recent check-in information to the Samsara dashboard, double-press the setup button.

The AG51 reports an approximate location using a cellular connection if the device cannot acquire a GPS signal. To increase availability of GPS:

Move the device outdoors.

Ensure the device has a clear line of sight to the sky.
