When you’re using the Samsara Driver App and operating under Canadian Hours of Service (HOS) regulations, you can choose between two duty cycle options (Cycle 1 and Cycle 2). Changing your HOS cycle in the app helps you comply with requirements for your operating region.
-
Cycle 1: A 7‑day period where you can accumulate up to 70 hours of on‑duty time, including driving and non‑driving on‑duty statuses.
-
Cycle 2: A 14‑day period where you can accumulate up to 120 hours of on‑duty time, including driving and non‑driving on‑duty statuses.
Note
These hours requirements change when a driver travels north of latitude 60 degrees north.
If you drive to a region with a different ruleset, you can change your HOS cycle after a required reset period has been taken by both you and your fleet administrators.
Use the following workflow to change the HOS cycle:
-
Log in to the Samsara Driver App.
-
Select the HoS tile.
-
To open the HOS Settings, tap Settings (
).
-
Tap Cycle.
Note
If you have not taken the required amount of off-duty time to change your cycle, you will see a warning.
-
Select and then Confirm the desired HOS cycle.
-
Save the changes to your HOS settings.
