When your Site IP Cameras detect activity, they report an incident. You can investigate all incidents including activity which did not create an alert from the Activity page. You can also narrow the results by additional attributes such as date and activity.
To view site activity:
-
From the Samsara dashboard, click Activity.
-
Use the date selector to choose the date for which you want to view activity and optionally set the Time of Day.
The default Time of Day is the Last hour. You change the time period using additional range presets on the left, or set a custom start and end date. After you choose a time period, the Activity page updates to display the incidents that took place during the specified time.
-
Filter the results by one or more of the following options:
-
Tags: Filter activities to only cameras and gateways associated with those tags.
-
Sites: Filter activities by the site where activities occurred.
-
Cameras: Select one or more cameras for which you want to review incidents. You can also use the search to find cameras using a full or partial camera name or IP address.
-
Motion: Filter incidents to show only incidents where motion was detected.
-
Person: Filter incidents to show only incidents where a person was identified. If you are looking for an incident where one or more persons wore a specific color of clothing, you can also optionally set the top or bottom clothing colors. Specifying multiple colors is treated as an OR operation meaning if you select both blue and green, the Activity page displays incidents where a person wore either color.
-
Vehicle: Filter incidents to show only incidents where a vehicle was detected.
-
-
Click on a camera still to review the incident.
For more information, see Examine Camera Footage.
If during incident review, you observe that Samsara has incorrectly identified a person, you can flag it for Samsara to further tune the detection algorithm:
-
Hover over the activity where Samsara incorrectly identified a person and click Not a person.
-
By default, Samsara will instantly tune the Samsara detection algorithm to ignore activity that is similar in shape and location, from both historical timelines and future alerts. However, if you only want to submit the feedback without making any changes to the detection algorithm, you can clear the option to Ignore similar detections.
-
Click Submit (or Ignore & Submit if you opted to enable Samsara to tune your detection algorithm).
