Provisioning a mobile device into the Samsara Mobile Experience Management (MEM) solution enables you to manage the device throughout its life cycle. To provision a device, you must install the Samsara Agent. This app runs in the background and facilitates communication with the Samsara Cloud to applies policy and transmit data such as the device location.
During the provisioning process, Samsara automatically pushes the default policy (unless you chose an alternate configuration) and installs the Samsara Agent, along with any other applications defined in your policy. To complete the setup process, you must also enable some final permissions requested by the Samsara Agent after it is successfully installed.
To provision a device:
-
Before you provision a device, you must:
-
Ensure the device is a new or factory reset running Android 10 or above
-
Begin with a new or factory reset device (as shown below), and do not follow any on-screen set up instructions until you have scanned the QR code as indicated later in this workflow.
-
Select
MEM Overview > Mobile Devices > + Add Mobile Device.
-
Follow the steps in the guided workflow, and click OK when finished.
You can use the same QR code to provision multiple devices (no need to generate a new one for each device).
-
After the device is provisioned, open the Samsara Agent on the device.
-
Grant additional permissions, if prompted.
To use Samsara Agent features, you will need to enable the following permissions:
-
Display over other apps (configured in the device settings)
-
Remote Support permissions (opens the Samsara Remote Support app)
After all permissions are granted, you will no longer see the notification on the main screen of the Samsara Agent.
-
-
View and manage your enrolled devices on the MEM Overview and MEM Devices pages.
